Tackling exam stress: where to go in Sheffield for a study break

With Easter exams fast approaching, we’ve come up with the best places in Sheffield for when you want to take a well-deserved break.

It can be hard to remember that you need to take time off when revising. But, if you overwork yourself, you can get burnt out.

Taking some time away from exam prep can be beneficial in the long run and lets you look back at your notes with fresh eyes and a new level of concentration.

Many studies have proven that a short walk is beneficial for your mental wellbeing, especially stress relief.

The Botanical Gardens, Endcliffe Park and Mount Pleasant Park are all around the corner from our flats.

These are just some of the parks Sheffield has to offer - Sheffield is the UK’s greenest city, so there’s plenty to choose from.

Having a walk around these green spaces allows you to have some fresh air and clear your head, ready for your next revision session.

When the weather isn’t the best, there’s always the Winter Gardens - a glasshouse filled with over 2,000 plants from around the world.

There’s also a cafe inside that sells lovely fresh sandwiches and a gift shop full of Sheffield memorabilia, perfect for decorating your flat.

Or, if you don’t fancy a walk, why not go out for a comforting pie?

This classic Yorkshire meal is a rite of passage for any student, and, of course, don’t forget to add some Henderson’s Relish.

If you’re in any of our flats on Whitham Road, you’re very close to Nottingham House, or ‘Notty House’ as the students call it, which should be on every student’s bucket list.

Take a look at our blog post on the best local restaurants near our accommodations for more inspiration.

If you don’t fancy going out, watching a film is a great way to relax. So many of our accommodations are close to a supermarket, or at least a corner shop, for movie snacks too.

It’s the perfect distraction for any pre-exam nerves and allows you to concentrate on something else to give your brain a rest.

This exam season, it’s important to remember that taking time off is essential for success, and hopefully, this guide has given you a few ideas for doing just that.

It also gives you an excuse to explore a bit more of Sheffield at the same time!
